This is Jonas writing. I’m glad to see that my TED talk seems to have made quite a few people interested in the Stockholm experiences of congestion pricing. Reading the comments, there seem to be a few questions, and also some misconceptions. Sorry for not being able to answer all of them in the TED talk, but it’s hard to squeeze in all the information you would like in nine minutes…
Fortunately, there are a quite a few sources available for those who’d like to learn more about this – for example the design of the system (how much people pay, when and where), what happened to the disappearing car drivers, what the equity effects were (rich vs poor) etc. Unfortunately, the best reports are usually published in scientific journals, which not everyone will have access to (most libraries and universities have electronic access, though). Anyway, if you want to read more about congestion charges in general and the Stockholm system in particular, here are a few ones I would recommend.
